“Like what you do, and then you will do your best.” – Katherine Johnson
Monique Boston, born and raised in Brooklyn, has made her way back home after spending 12 years in Richmond, VA. She obtained a bachelor’s degree and masters in teaching at Virginia Commonwealth University and worked as both a public and independent school teacher for seven years in Richmond. She most recently taught elementary and middle school math for three years at a progressive, independent school in the Upper West Side. She was eager to join the Poly community in 2021 teaching Grade 8 math, bringing her passion for math, love of children, and ability to communicate mathematical concepts to students in a way that leads to a deeper understanding. You can find Monique bringing joy to the classroom and making math accessible and fun for students. She is a student magnet and loves to participate in student events. Outside of the classroom, you can find her enjoying the outdoors on a hike or a bike ride, having special time with her two children, tutoring math to elementary and middle school students around NYC, eating chocolate, or learning something new of interest to her.
